iQOO has worked hard to develop a positive brand image. Since its launch in India with the iQOO 3 in 2020, the company has grown significantly. With the introduction of the IQOO, It has entered a new flagship segment with the iQOO 9 Pro, which costs more than Rs 60,000. The iQOO 9, on the other hand, is a more affordable flagship, with a base price of Rs 42,990 and a high price of Rs 46,990.

The iQOO 9’s first distinguishing feature is its design, particularly the Legend Variant, which features three stripes on the back inspired by BMW’s color scheme. The Alpha version includes black stripes on the back, which is also very attractive. The rear of the Alpha model is made of a soft-touch material with curved edges to make it comfortable to hold and grip.

The aluminum rails look good all around and they given the power button a blue texture to match the rest of the phone’s design. The back cameras feature a metal and glass module, and the controls are clicky. iQOO has packed this phone with a lot of amazing features which we will review in this article.

iQOO 9 5G Design

This time around, the iQOO 9 is only available in Three colors or designs: orange leather, Black Alpha, and the BMW Motosport edition. It is the most identifiable model among all the new flagships thanks to its fresh look.

Its design feels premium but the phone feels heavy in the hand as it weighs 200 grams. The height of this phone is 159.1 mm, the width 75.1 mm, and the thickness is only 8.6 mm. The phone looks slim and has a bezel-less design on the front, which makes it more unique and stylish. On both sides, it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which makes it strong.

iQOO 9 5G Display

The iQOO 9, like its competitors, has a high-end display. It features a 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and full-HD+ (1080 x 2376 pixels) resolution. The display has a 10-bit color, a 19.8:9 aspect ratio, a 92.76 screen-to-body ratio, and a pixel density of 398ppi. In terms of specs, the high-end display provides an excellent viewing experience during gameplay and media consumption.

The colors are bright, and the high touch sampling rate ensures that it is extremely responsive to touch. You may also pick between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rates, and the screen brightens enough for clear outdoor viewing in direct sunshine. While we haven’t evaluated the display panels on other devices, we can say that the iQOO 9’s screen does its job well and is a good-looking panel.

iQOO 9 5G Performance & Software

The Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC powers the iQOO 9, which comes with 8 and 12 GB of RAM with 128 and 256 GB of storage in India. The iQOO 9 now stands out because of the Snapdragon 888 Plus model, which is found in no other smartphone in its price category. Although there isn’t much of a difference in performance or gameplay when compared to Snapdragon 888 devices, the Plus variant has more power.

The iQOO 9 does exactly what it says it will do, with no lag in speed and rapid app opening and closing. RAM management is also excellent, with apps lasting a long time in memory. The apps loaded almost immediately, even while they were closed. You can alter the animation speed and types under the Dynamic Effect settings because FunTouch OS is a very customizable OS. Finally, the march security patch is available, which is adequate but could have been better.

iQOO 9 5G Gaming Experience

Similar to the iQOO 7, iQOO is emphasising gaming on the in iQOO 9 5G smartphone. When I tried to play Call of Duty Mobile, I got another disappointment. While I expected the game to operate smoothly, a glitch prevented it from doing so. The display’s refresh rate dropped below 60Hz with the maximum graphics and frame rate settings, making it sluggish.

It started running without any problems at low graphics settings. When we asked about the problem, iQOO said we had the test unit and that an OTA update will fix it. After the update, it runs all heavy games like BGMI and COD smoothly with a 120Hz refresh rate.

iQOO 9 5G Battery

The iQOO 9 comes with a 4,350mAh battery with 120W super fast charging. In India, the iQOO 9 is the only phone that supports 120W charging. When it comes to charging time, the iQOO 9 can go from 0% to 100% in just 20 minutes, which is incredible. But during charging, it warmed sometimes up to 41 degrees, making it difficult to grip.

After a full charge, it will deliver 15 hours of screen-on time in normal usage and only 5 hours of backup during gameplay. The battery of this phone needed to be improved, which is the only weak point of this phone.

iQOO 9 5G Cameras

The iQOO 9 comes with three cameras on the backside. A 48-megapixel primary sensor with Sony IMX598 sensor that has an f/1.79 aperture, a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle with f/2.2 lens, and a 13-megapixel portrait camera with an f/2.46 aperture is included. Also, it has a dual flash in the rear camera setup. A 16-megapixel selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.45 is located on the front in the punch hole of the display.

When there is a lot of light going into the sensor, the primary sensor operates well. The images have good contrast and natural-looking colors. The dynamic range is acceptable, and the detailing is superb.

When compared to photos taken with the primary sensor, photos taken with the ultra-wide sensor were also decent, with minimal color shifting. However, the smudged effect at the edges of the wide-angle photos appeared odd. The primary sensor was used to create the detailing in the center of the photo.

I thought the colors in the selfies taken with the 16MP sensor might have been more brilliant. The image was average in terms of detail and clarity. Unlike the portrait photos from the back camera, edge recognition was highly accurate.

The primary camera can record video in 3840×2160 at 30 fps and 1920×1080 at 30 fps, and the front camera can record up to 1920×1080 at 30 fps. iQOO 9 5G is one of the best camera phones under 40000 in India.
