Oneplus Nord 2 Review
OnePlus Nord 2
As the sequel to the OnePlus Nord, the OnePlus Nord 2 was released on August 16, 2021, in India. The OnePlus Nord was a significant smartphone for OnePlus since it provided users with a low-cost alternative.
The new OnePlus Nord 2 starts at the cost of 27,999 rupees, It is an affordable Oneplus phone, but it’s priced higher than the budget range of Oneplus Nord CE 2 5G.
It has higher-resolution cameras, a more powerful SoC, and stereo speakers. Is this phone a worthy successor to the OnePlus Nord, or does it fall short of value? To find out, I tested the OnePlus Nord 2 and share the review in this article.
The full-HD+ AMOLED display on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G has a refresh rate of 90Hz and HDR10+ compatibility. It also boasts a well-positioned and user-friendly in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Nord 2 is powered by OnePlus’s MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. The Dimensity 1200-AI processor was developed in collaboration with MediaTek to increase AI capabilities, according to the business.
This gadget comes preloaded with Google apps, as well as a few OnePlus apps and Netflix. With the device, OnePlus promises two years of software upgrades and three years of security patches, so it should last a long time. The June Android security patch was installed on my OnePlus Nord 2, which was the most recent at the time.
What Comes in the box of Oneplus Nord 2 5G?
let’s see what comes inside the box of Oneplus Nord 2 5G.

OnePlus Nord 2 5G Design
The design of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G is identical to that of the OnePlus 9-series devices. It sports a large 6.43-inch screen and a hole-punch camera in the top left corner. Only the chin is slightly thicker than the rest of the panel’s bezels.
The Nord 2 has a glass back, giving it a more expensive appearance and premium feel. The front and back of the Nord 2 are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The back glass slopes to the sides where it joins the frame, making the gadget easy to hold.
Although the mid-frame is composed of plastic, it does not have a cheap feel to it. The power and volume buttons are on the right side of the frame, which is a nice arrangement.
When holding the phone in one hand, it’s easy to use these. The alert slider is located on the right, immediately above the power button, on most OnePlus smartphones. It allows you to effortlessly choose between ringer modes. This phone comes in three different colors, Gray Sierra, Blue Haze and Green-Wood.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G Performance
The OnePlus Nord 2 is a pleasant device to use. You’ll notice smooth scrolling right away because the display is tuned to 90Hz by default. You can customize the display’s color profile to your preferences. Also, it is good for gaming as it has a capable MediaTek processor, which allows decent gameplay at higher settings and frame rates.
The OnePlus AI video enhancements can be turned on in the Settings. Using compatible apps, for example, videos can have slightly increased contrast and clarity (this worked on YouTube). The in-display fingerprint scanner was quite responsive, and unlocking the device took only one attempt. Face recognition consistently functioned as well.
OnePlus Nord 2 Cameras
The triple camera arrangement on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera, which is also found on the OnePlus 9. The primary camera has an f/1.88 aperture and is equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS).
A 119.7-degree field of vision 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel mono camera are also included. The camera app UI differs slightly from prior OnePlus smartphones, but I was able to navigate it without difficulty.
The AI on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G was quick to detect scenes and lock focus. The photographs were detailed and accurate in the daylight. Even far-away items were recognizable in the photos. Although the ultra-wide-angle camera provides a larger field of vision, image quality suffers.
OnePlus Nord 2 Display
A 6.43-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Fluid AMOLED display is included on the OnePlus Nord 2. If an app doesn’t support a higher refresh rate, the phone will scale it down to 60Hz. The display also supports WideVine L1 for Full HD Plus video streaming on supported OTT services and is HDR10+ certified.
To upscale resolution and improve colors, AI resolution boost and AI color boost functions are included. I didn’t spend much time looking at the extra features or changing the color temperatures manually because the screen was already perfectly tuned. Color reproduction, black levels, contrast ratios, and viewing angles are all excellent when using the phone to consume content.
OnePlus Nord 2 Battery
The OnePlus Nord 2 has a 4,500 mAh battery that easily lasts a day under moderate use, which is impressive considering we’re using a 90Hz display. In addition, the OnePlus includes a 65W charging adapter that can fully charge the phone in less than 45 minutes. While charging, the phone does become a little warm, but this is nothing unusual.
OnePlus Nord 2 Software
The OnePlus Nord 2 is powered by OxygenOS 11.3 on top of Android 11 and has a unified codebase with Oppo’s ColorOS. However, my experience with the OnePlus 9 Pro has remained largely unchanged.
There are several OnePlus apps pre-installed, including some fan favorites like the always-on display and Zen Mode, and the interface is still relatively bloatware-free. ColorOS has had a minor impact on the interface, but the OxygenOS vibe remains.
